Multiple Intelligences As Unique Differences

If we see conscientiously, people are different and unique, yes? They like and dislike different things, but there are many similarities.  In another way, they have their own way to learn. Based on Gardner on Multiple Intelligence there are 8 kinds of people Intelligence.  I want to tell what I know about it through samples below.

Let’s say there is a girl named Tiara. Tiara is so friendly. She has many friends and likes to share with her friend. For her, friends are her life.  She often takes side job as MC in many parties. She always said to everyone that she wants to be a great politician. That’s why she loves to join some discussions.

Tiara has a brother named Adjie who likes to read, listen or attend everything about Psychology. Contrary with Tiara, Adjie is more introvert. He likes listening other’s problem and help to solve it, but he avoids sharing his private problem to other. In his room there is a sticker on the wall, “I wanna be a Psychologist”. So, Adjie is an intrapersonal person.

Tiara also has a little sister, Trigonia who is very smart in number or has Logical Mathematical Intelligence. She loves mathematic so much. She admires Einstein and wants to be big scientist like him. She always talks to Tiara and Andjie, “Brother, sister, why do many people hate math? Whereas Math is like a plate of pizza…so delicious…hmmm…”

Tiara was wondering how Trigonia can say parable of mathematic and pizza. Actually this is influenced by Trigonia’s language teacher, Ms. Sastri. Ms. Sastri is a famous writer. She can teach her student with unforgettable words. Ms. Sastri has Linguistic intelligence (word smart).

Tiara’s best friends named Monica and Cherina. Monica is a dancer in their school. Beside dance she also love sports like volleyball, swimming, and gym. In the class Monica doesn’t like to sit in long time. When the teacher lectures along the class, she often goes to toilet only for move her body because she feel bored. Monica is an example of bodily-kinesthetic person.

Rather different than Monica, Cherina has music smart (Musical Intrelligence). She is a music mania. Since she was child everywhere she goes, she always brings her music player. In class she is very excited when the teacher gives a song or music in the class activities. Cherina does not only listen but she can also sing some songs very well.  Many people admire her because her voice is very amazing. Moreover, she has released her own album. That are why Tiara, Monica and Cherina could be best friends, they are complement each other. Monica can dance with accompanied by Cherina’s song and Tiara promotes them as well.

As a teenager Tiara has a boyfriend, Alam. Alam is a member of MAPALA or nature lover organization in his campus. He likes hiking, diving, and doing adventure to many beautiful places in Indonesia. Almost every time he is back from the adventure, he brought new plant to add to his plants collection in the house. He can classify the plants very well. Sometime he takes Tiara to visit some places that have outbound facilities. That’s why we can call Alam as Naturalist person.

Alam’s brother, Grafie is work as a pilot. If any person ask him about his school experience he said that he very enjoy when the teacher explained the lesson with any picture, map, and something like that. Since he was child she has best thing that accompanied him wherever he goes, that is map. His friends always call him as Mr. Map because he can remember any location and route easily. Indeed he can draw it very well. Not only map actually, he can draw and paint many amazing shapes. His another hobby is photography. He can capture the object from any wonderful angle. Grafie is an example of Spatial/Visual People.

Beside 8 multiple Intelligence Gardner theory, nowadays there are more intelligences like emotional and spiritual intelligence. The sample of these intelligent people is person who can manage emotion like many motivator, spiritual consultant, etc.

As a teacher candidate and parents want to be, it is important to know those kinds of Intelligence. Because we will educate and guide human to lived and growing up in the right way appropriately with their each talent.
